Up for your consideration is a very nice 1860's $4.50 State of Missouri DEFENCE BOND. Catalog # Cr15. UNCIRCULATED+ condition

Printed on paper watermarked "W.T. & Co." Large round circle in red with 4 1/2 overprint on the front side.

This note reads:

"Under the Act of Nov. 5th 1861 to provide for the defence of the State of Missouri".
The language used on these Defence bonds was different then what was used on other Missouri notes. It is speculated that these notes were printed after the Union Forces had overun the earlier printers.

Dark printing with very clear details. Crisp clean white paper. NO folds or tears. Minor paper clip staining at right side. Fully framed.

These Southern states notes that were issued during the Civil War era, are always desirable. This high grade example should meet your expectations.

Price: $275.00
